The ribs are what gives the boat it strength i used a 2x10 because thats what i had laying around. i made a cardboard template and then traced the design onto the wood. and then cut out 8 identical ribs its important to leave a space over the 2x2's so that they can be caulked on make sure the gap fits nice and snug.. The purpose of this boat was to bring me out to the reef for diving and snorkelling. i put an 8 hp outboard engine on it which was fine but the boat can also take a bigger one, maybe 15 hp or so.. We spent hours creating boats that we hoped would make it past the bend and out of sight. if your kids are little, use sticks just like winnie the pooh. older kids can make sailboats from boards, fabric, and nails with a string attached to retrieve the boat if it sails too far. have races. just make sure you don’t leave garbage in the river!.
